Float Sofa

Presented at Salone del Mobile 2012, ‘float’ is a sofa composed of soft rounded, colorful shapes that intersect, creating a single composition. Created by New York-based designer Karim Rashid for Spanish furniture brand Sancal, it features a high back, with a seat that appears floating above the ground. supported by turned wooden legs, the curved, gentle form of ‘float’ offers a natural and welcoming feel.

Koop chair

The Koop chair is the new armchair designed by Karim Rashid in collaboration with the old and prestigious Finnish design brand Martela. The ovoid shape of the outer structure forms a kind of embracing shell that contains the soft upholstered seat. The simple curve defined by the glossy surface symbolically marks the border between private and public space, making the place of relaxation, with spare gestures, so intimate and shielded from intrusions. In fact, the particular design of the Koop chair makes it possible for the person seated inside it to hide almost completely within the shell, creating an amusing play of not seeing, and not being seen.

Sloo chair

Sloo creates a state between liquid plastic and solid material objects. Plastic loves to flow and to be amorphous. We too are amorphous so the relationship is symbiotic. The results are organic forms that softly translate into and out of flat planar surfaces.
The overall feeling creates a state of endlessness, a continual ephemeral experience. Its material lets people use it outdoors and indoors, as the polyethylene resin is highly resistant to impacts and extreme temperatures. Its wide range of finishes and colors allows the creation of different spaces easily.

Heartbeat chair

Totally reconfigurable and scalable, Heartbeat is composed of three distinct seating elements: Straight, Concave, and Convex. Repositioning these three elements allows for the creation of a myriad of unique, morphing, undulating, physical landscapes. The shape and direction of the alternating seating resembles a wave or a pulse, keeps guests from being seated back to back, and makes it effortless to spark interaction. Designed to facilitate conversation, Heartbeat suggests sharing a “heart-to-heart” with your fellow human being.
